Dear Fellow Engineers, Academicians, Industry Leaders, Students and Friends,

Tamil Nadu has been a land of remarkable engineering achievements for centuries. The Cholas, Pandyas and Cheras demonstrated excellence in water management, irrigation, architecture, metallurgy, agriculture, shipbuilding and maritime engineering. Their legacy reminds us that engineering is not merely a profession—it is a responsibility to society and a legacy for generations.

With IE(I)'s historic association with Madras from 1920, Tamil Nadu has an important place in India's organised engineering journey. As we celebrate this legacy, let us ask: "What engineering legacy will we leave for the next century?"

The 15 Engineering Divisions of IE(I), together with our 16 Local Centres, academic institutions, industries, Government, startups and students, can work as one engineering fraternity to address energy, water, healthcare, sustainability, digital transformation, mobility and inclusive development.

As part of this vision, IE(I) Tamil Nadu State Centre is exploring a Sustainable Modern Engineering Building—a Living Laboratory demonstrating Green Building, 3D Printing, Modular Construction, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Smart Water Management, Circular Economy, Intelligent Buildings and EV Mobility.

We also envision dedicated initiatives for Women in Engineering, Medical Engineering and Social Engineering, ensuring that technology ultimately serves humanity.

We are exploring an ambitious 90-day Engineering Challenge, subject to technical feasibility, statutory approvals, safety and quality requirements, with the possibility of pursuing an independently verified world-record attempt.

Let us transform our engineering legacy celebration from remembrance into a movement of action.
