Dear Fellow Engineers,

My heartfelt greetings to all our esteemed members.

I am delighted to share that the Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre, celebrated World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development on the theme “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalization” on 20th March 2026 at the IE(I) TNSC Auditorium, Chennai. Dr. Kallol Roy, Former Chairman and Managing Director, BHAVINI, and Research Advisor, IIT Madras, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre, in association with Mudhal Mozhi Thondu and Kalvi Arakkattalai, organized Regional Languages Promotion Day 2026 on the theme “Neer Uyirin Ver” on 21 st March 2026 at the IEI TNSC Auditorium, Chepauk, Chennai. The programme was graced by Mr. Siva Ilanagai, Mr. Amirtham Peter Rajan, Mr. S. Shanmugasundaram, Mr. A. Anbazhagan, Mr. Babu Sasidharan, Mr. Aavichi, and Er. D. Gokul.

World Water Day on the theme “Water and Gender” was celebrated on 23 rd March 2026 at the IEI TNSC Auditorium, Chennai. Er. N. Suresh Babu, Executive Engineer, Soil Mechanics and Research Division, Water Resources Department, Chennai, was the Chief Guest. The Academic Excellence Award was presented to Dr. T. Subramani, Professor, Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai, in recognition of his achievement as a World Top 2% Scientist. A Water Summit Competition was organized for engineering and school students, and the winners were honoured during the World Water Day celebration.

In continuation of the celebrations, World Water Day for School Students was conducted on Saturday, 28 th March 2026, at the IEI TNSC Auditorium, Chennai. Dr. R. Rajalakshmi, Retired Headmistress, Guntur Subbiah Pillai Theagarayanagar Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Chennai, was the Guest of Honour, and Dr. Sankari Lakshminarayanan, Founder and Academic Director, Six Flame Academy, Puducherry, was the Chief Guest.

National Maritime Day on the theme “Maritime India – Empowering Progress” was conducted on 11th April 2026 through an online Zoom Meeting. Capt. Dr. Bhaskar Bhandarkar, St. Wilfred College of Law, Panvel, Mumbai, was the Chief Guest, and Er. S. Kannan, Past Chairman, IEI TNSC, was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Ranjit Narayanan, Global Head of Recruitment, Marine Talent Acquisition, Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, delivered the special address as Guest Speaker.
