Dear Members,

My heartfelt greetings to all my esteemed members.

The Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre successfully organized an insightful guest lecture on "Beyond Capacity Addition: Grid-Forming Inverters, Energy Storage and the Next Phase of Renewable Energy Integration in India" on 19th June 2026 through the Zoom online platform. The lecture was delivered by Er. C. Nallasivan, M.E., M.I.E., (Ph.D.), Assistant Executive Engineer, TNPDCL and Research Scholar, Anna University, who shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of renewable energy integration and the critical role of grid-forming inverters and energy storage technologies in India's energy transition.

On 20th June 2026, the IE(I) TNSC organized the Eco Stalls & Innovations Exhibition as part of the World Environment Day Celebration at the IE(I) TNSC Auditorium, Chennai. Engineering institutions, startups, innovators, industries, NGOs, researchers, farmers, and sustainable product manufacturers participated in the exhibition by showcasing their eco-friendly products, innovative technologies, and sustainable solutions. The inaugural function was graced by Dr. N. Parasuraman, Principal Scientist, M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. J. Daniel Chellappa, Eminent Nuclear Scientist, Chennai, as the Guest of Honour. The event provided an excellent platform for promoting environmental awareness, innovation, and sustainable engineering practices.

The Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre also organized an enlightening guest lecture on "Roles of Cement in Concrete" on 24th June 2026 at 6.00 p.m. through the Zoom online platform. The lecture was delivered by Er. M. Murugu Elan Thendral, Regional Technical Service Head – Tamil Nadu, Adani Cements, who shared his extensive industry experience and offered valuable insights into the vital role of cement in enhancing the performance, strength, durability, and service life of concrete structures.
