Dear Members,

I am happy to reconnect with all of you through this latest news bulletin.

It gives me immense pleasure to present the July 2026 activities of the Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre, which reflect our continued commitment to promoting professional excellence, knowledge sharing, technological advancement and meaningful engagement among the engineering fraternity.

The month commenced with a Guest Lecture on "How to Start International Trade" held online through Zoom on 8th July 2026. Dr. K. S. Kamaludeen, Managing Director, Blue Bharath Exim Pvt. Ltd. and Founder & CEO, B-Accuracy InfoTech, shared valuable insights into the fundamentals and opportunities of international trade, providing participants with practical perspectives on entering the global market.

On 16th July 2026, the Tamil Nadu State Centre, in association with the Department of Electrical Engineering, R.M.K. Engineering College, organized a One-Day Workshop on "AI-Driven Innovations in Renewable Energy Systems" at R.M.K. Engineering College, Chennai. The workshop highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in renewable energy, predictive maintenance and intelligent energy systems. Ms. Priyadharshini Shanker, AI Expert, Centre for Innovation and Software Learning, inaugurated the workshop, while Dr. K. A. Mohammed Junaid, Principal, R.M.K. Engineering College, delivered the Felicitation Address.

The Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Memorial Lecture was organized on 18th July 2026 at the IE(I) Tamil Nadu State Centre Auditorium, Chennai. Dr. Vikas Misra, Vice Chancellor, Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. G. Raja Singh Thangadurai, Director, DRDO Industry Academia–Ramanujan Centre of Excellence, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, delivered an insightful lecture on "Overview of Indian Missile Development Programme", providing participants with valuable perspectives on India's indigenous missile development and technological capabilities.

Continuing our efforts to strengthen interaction between engineering professionals and major infrastructure projects, a team of 18 committee members of the IE(I) Tamil Nadu State Centre visited the Chennai Metro Rail Limited tunnelling project at Villivakkam Metro Station, Corridor–5, on 25th July 2026. The visit provided an opportunity for our members to gain first-hand knowledge of the ongoing tunnelling works and the engineering practices involved in this major urban transportation project.

As we move forward, I invite all our members, young engineers and engineering students to actively participate in the programmes of the Institution and contribute their knowledge and expertise towards building a technologically advanced, sustainable and resilient nation.
